About This Topic

What is Internet Governance?

Internet governance refers to the development and application of shared principles, norms, rules, decision-making procedures, and programmes that shape the evolution and use of the Internet — as defined by the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS, 2005).

The India Internet Research Organisation (IIRO) is deeply committed to advancing discussions, research, and initiatives in this field. As the Internet continues to evolve, shaping its policies and governance structures is crucial to ensuring an open, secure, and inclusive digital space for all.
